Aha, missed something. A review in Rolling Stone:
Susan Minot’s resplendent novel of a dying woman, Ann Lord (Vanessa Redgrave), remembering her defining romance with the man who got away (Patrick Wilson) stumbles on its way to the screen. Hungarian director Lajos Koltai (Fateless) pushes emotions that need to flow. But the actors, including Toni Collette and Natasha Richardson (Redgrave is her mom) as Ann’s daughters, provide flashes of brilliance. Hugh Dancy scores as the plot’s catalyst for tragedy. And Claire Danes is stellar as the young Ann, attending the Newport, Rhode Island, wedding of her friend Lila (Mamie Gummer). Even if you don’t know that Gummer, 23, is the daughter of Meryl Streep, who plays the older Lila, the resemblance hits you instantly. But Gummer proves her talent is her own in a star-is-born performance that signals an exceptional career ahead.
Ok darlings, I bring gifts! Although it is curious that Ms. Minot did not attend the Evening premiere, at least that I can tell. If you have any photos that show otherwise please, please share. The official Evening site is up!! The site includes a sweepstakes for a chance to win a Rhode Island vacay for you and your mom. And of course, tons of media such a photos, trailer, e-cards, etc.I found this perusing YouTube, a booktrailer for Rapture. Nothing professional or promising of yet another adaptation but interesting nonetheless. If anyone would like to translate the VO, I'm sure you'd have some appreciation headed your way. A very brief mention of Monkeys, so brief that I will post the excerpt in its entirety: Another small slip of a book that I can't resist mentioning is Susan Minot's "Monkeys." It is her first novel and a haunting illustration of a larger-than-life American family. No substantial articles, but some Evening (film) mentions worth posting:Susan Minot's Novel 'Evening' Hits The Big Screen June 15Swim Into Summer With New Book Titles2007 Summer Movie PreviewHollywood pumps up for the summerA press release for Evening (film)Mamie, mom Meryl spend part of 'Evening'Hollywood in chick-flick droughtLiterary AdaptationsCasting PerfectionA press release for Evening (film)

I have some lovely little gems for you. I know, it's been a while! And for those of you who have forgotten, June 15th is the official USA release date for the film adaption of Evening. I even saw it on Fandango! Exciting! Also, while looking for the screenplay, I found a new edition of Evening on Amazon.com available for pre-order. It's to be released May 1, 2007 and I see it has a sticker on it, "Now a major motion picture". Ahh, film promotions.Small blurbs: Locally Grown regarding Claire Danes mostly Ten Days in the Hills by Jane Smiley mentions RaptureExclusive Interview, Hugh Dancy, Beyond the Gates mentions Evening (film)Levinson: Movies Sometimes Don't Match Critics' Expectations read 'THE BIG SCREEN SCENE', mentioned Evening (film) and Patrick WilsonRecent 'Evening' IMDB Message Board posts:"I havent seen it but in an interview she did say she was singing. This is parts of the interview:I just shot this movie "Evening," where I play a torch singer from the '50s and '60s. She never really makes it - she's no Aretha Franklin, thank God - but she's always on the cusp. I'd never sung before and I didn't realize how physical an undertaking it is. It's so much to do with the body. So my dancing served me in that sense, and I had an instinct for phrasing. The more knowledgeable you become about your body and how it works, the freer you are in your acting. Its taken from an interview she did talking about Edith & Jenny, and she mentioned Evening in it aswell." Unfortunately, searching for 'Evening' yields a multitude of unrelated information. While searching for cast and crew member names, I found a few snippets. I'm sure things will pick up as we come closer to the release date (June 15, according to IMDB). Even the message boards have been fairly silent.Small blurbs:Tour 'Homes for the Holidays' this weekend in BristolOwn a slice of societyRecent 'Evening' images: Claire Danes plays a young Ann.Source* ClaireDanesFan.com has a nice growing collection of set images, don't forget to take a peek!
